In high school she was introduced to Drum Corps International and went on to march low brass with Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps (‘14, ‘15) and Phantom Regiment (‘16, ‘17).
Kia obtained her B.S. in Biology from Ball State University, graduating in 2018, and moving to Indianapolis. She is currently pursuing an MBA at Indiana University, where she is employed in medical research. When she isn’t working or teaching, Kia likes to binge Netflix, plan woodworking projects, and share snacks with her dog Cori.
While at BSU Kia picked up a pair of cymbals and fell in love. She marched two seasons with Legacy Indoor Percussion (‘17, ‘18) and in 2019 decided to try something new, auditioning for the visual line at Veritas Indoor Percussion. In 2020 she returned to the cymbal line at Veritas, also serving as an ensemble leader.
Kia is a two-time recipient of the Seavine Cymbal Scholarship and is currently in her third season of teaching cymbals at various Indianapolis high schools. She is incredibly excited for her first year of teaching at an independent group and can’t wait to give back to the marching community!
