Brantley Heath : Tenor Staff
Brantley has been marching and teaching for the past several years in the Tri-State area. After marching in the fall and winter ensembles at North Harrison High School, he went off to perform with the Cascades (2013), Pacific Crest (2014), and Oregon Crusaders (2015) Drum and Bugle Corps. He was also involved in the WGI Percussion activity, marching with Legacy Indoor Percussion (2014-2016). His recent scholastic teaching accomplishments include a State Title and 2nd Place finish with Williamstown High School in 2014 and 2016, BOA Semi-Finals appearances with Larry A. Ryle High School in 2015 and Williamstown in 2016, and IPA Open Class 3rd Place with Zionsville Community High School. His independent teaching experiences include serving as the Quad Tech for Tate's Creek Indoor Ensemble (2017), the Seattle Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps (2017, 2018), and Legacy Performing Arts Percussion Ensemble (2018). Brantley is currently living in the Indianapolis area and works with the percussion ensembles at Fishers High School and Perry Meridian High School.
Javier Ramirez : Tenor Staff
Javier Ramirez is from Indianapolis, Indiana. With 9 years of experience, Javier has been establishing himself as a aspiring music educator, performer, and composer in the Indianapolis area. Javier is currently working on his Bachelor of Arts in Music with a minor is Spanish at the University of Indianapolis. At UIndy, Javier is studying percussion privately under Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra percussionists Paul Berns and Jack Brennan. He is also studying composition and arranging under Dr. John Berners. In 2012, Javier was a Battery Percussion member in the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps and severed as section leader for the quad line. In addition, he has also performed as a member of Legacy Indoor with the quad line in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Outside of the competition side of the marching arts, Javier is a performer with the Indiana Pacers High Octane Drumline. Currently, He serves as the Percussion Director at Perry Meridian High School. Along with his director responsibilities, Javier also arranges and designs for local Indianapolis high schools. When he is not drumming or teaching, he likes to enjoy his time composing, playing sports, and hanging out with friends and familia.
Josh Varab : Tenor Staff
Josh currently serves as an after school coordinator and camp director for inner city schools in Indianapolis, IN. He was born and raised in Elkhart, IN, where he marched four years with Concord Community High School. Josh has assisted, arranged, and taught privately for several marching bands in northern and central Indiana for the past six years. Josh spent two years marching tenors with Madison Scouts and continues to perform as an alum. He attended Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies with concentrations in music, youth ministry and nonprofit business. He has worked full-time in international development for the past two years, which allowed him to teach drums to refugee children in Africa. During college, he performed with several ensembles as well as arranging and assisting with the Bethel drumline. He continues to free-lance as an educator, performer, and private lesson instructor with various programs in Indiana. Josh currently resides in Fishers, IN and is excited to spend his second year with the organization!
Andrew Morris : Tenor Staff
This is Andrews first year with 317 Performing Arts. He currently resides in Southwest Michigan and attends Purdue University Northwest studying Physical Science. Also a member of the Army Reserve, he is a Corporal and has an MOS of Petroleum Supply Specialist. His past experiences as a DCI performer include Impulse drum and bugle corps (2007,2008,2010), Vanguard Cadets (2009), and The Cavaliers (2011). His past experiences as a WGI performer include Green Thunder Percussion (2011,2012) and Northcoast Academy (2014). Andrew has spent the last 5 years teaching marching percussion with many schools to include Lakeshore, Bolingbrook, La Porte, New Prairie, and Bridgman. As well as many indoor and summer groups including Northcoast Academy, Cavaliers Indoor Percussion, Gita Surosawan Banten, and The Academy.
Josh Schneider : Tenor Staff
Josh Schneider is an active performer, educator, and arranger based in Indianapolis, Indiana. He holds a BS in Music from Purdue Fort Wayne where he studied percussion with Eric Schweikert, Alison Chorn, and Jason Markzon. Josh marched with Legends Drum and Bugle Corps and with NorthCoast Academy as a tenor drummer. Since aging out of DCI and WGI, Josh has taught with numerous high school marching bands and winter percussion ensembles throughout Northern Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, including: Norwell High School, Carroll High School, Notre Dame Indoor Percussion Ensemble (NDIPE), Legends Winter Percussion, and Redline Percussion. In addition to his role at Legacy, Josh also serves as front ensemble tech at Legends Drum and Bugle Corps and is the Percussion Director at Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.
John Marque : Tenor Staff
For over 10 years John has been a central piece of the Indianapolis music scene. Being a versatile drum set player has placed him in many different circles of the community. Recently, John has performed with multiplatinum-selling singer, composer, lyricist, pianist and actress Ann Hampton Calloway. He has also had the great pleasure of working with iconic organist Melvin Rhyne of Wes Montgomery and has released a record with Indianapolis jazz guitarist Steve Weakley of popular 70s band Funk Inc. Performances with other local jazz greats in the area include The Buselli Wallarab Jazz Orchestra, Rob Dixon, Marvin McKay, and Frank Glover.
For the past 7 years, John has been the drummer for the corporate party band The Bishops Entertainment LLC and plays over 100 shows a year ranging from weddings and outdoor festivals to corporate parties and events. He has also served as a sub drummer for many of the community’s most successful corporate bands including Living Proof, Dave and Rae, Blue Water Kings Band and many others. John was also very fortunate to be a part of A.R. Rahman’s Unity of Light tour as he performed with Global Rhythms, under the direction of Srinivas Krishnan. He has recorded hundreds of tracks throughout Indiana studios such as Primary Sound Studios, The Lodge Studios, Gaither Studios, Owl Studios, and Twin Mono Studios.
John was a member of the 2002 Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps and is a Vic Firth, Zildjian and Remo Artist and endorser as well as an endorser of Drum Dots and Big Fat Snare Drum. John is currently the Assistant Band Director/Percussion Director at Brownsburg High School and is excited to be working with the highest level of education and performance at “317 Performing Arts.”
